Trouble Wave the Rooster Story Hour and Book Give Away Program
In 2018, Jaimi Buck, a Literacy Volunteers student of over 6 years, published her first children's story, titled Trouble Wave the Rooster. She wrote it about her barnyard animals and it has an anti-bullying message. Her friends, tutor and board members chipped in to help her illustrate the book, publish it, and purchase copies for distribution (over 230 volunteer hours!).
In 2019 Jaimi gave away 188 of her books to school children at her story hour.
See a couple of Jaimi's favorite
pages from the book.
Story Hour-Jaimi and her tutor bring stacks of books to schools, libraries, and festivals. They read-aloud, do a puppet craft activity, and all the kids get to take a free copy of the book home!
One of the kids' favorite activities is to make Trouble Wave popsicle puppets! His leg even moves to kick the pineapple!
