The mission of Literacy Volunteers of Franklin and Somerset Counties is to empower adults through learner-based tutoring in reading, writing, math, and technology and to promote literacy in our community.
LVFSC began in 1978 as an affiliate of Literacy Volunteers of America. In 1995, Somerset County was added to the areas served and became part of the organization's name; LVFSC expanded again in 2015 to include the nearby towns of Livermore and Livermore Falls.
We commit to providing high-quality tutoring services for adults in Western Maine who struggle to read and to promoting literacy in our communities as we adapt to this 21st-century digital age. We honor a legacy of almost 50 years of empowering our communities by making literacy accessible and impactful, and we look forward to the next 50 years to come.
